Closer in 2026

Hi Reader,

In this beginning of 2026, I believe we should be even more connected.

The last couple of years have turned out to be a collection of firsts.

• In 2019, I lived my first live monetary collapse.

• In 2020, I lived my first live bomb explosion and pandemic.

• In 2021, I lived my first expat experience.

• In 2022, ChatGPT launched and has been transforming my day, every day.

• In 2024, I witnessed a televised genocide of the land of my grandfather.

• Two weeks ago, a country's president was extracted from his palace.

• One week ago, I watched the first snow fall on Bourg-la-Reine.

I used to think I thrived on firsts. On newness.

Today I feel different. Maybe it's turning 40 in a few months.

I feel the need to be closer to my tribe. The ones who've been in the trenches with me. My people. My community. My family.

That will never be fake.

So I'm writing these words, hoping we can kick off this new year, closer.
